Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes, your donations of clothing and household items are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
How does the tax deduction work?
The tax receipt is proof that we picked up a non cash donation from you on behalf of our charities. The donor is responsible for determining the value of their donations and listing them out accordingly.
How do I determine the value of my donations?
The donor may deduct the property’s fair market value at the time of the donation, subject to the statutory limitations on such donations. Fair market value is defined as the price at which the property would change hands between a willing seller and a willing buyer. Further, the fair market value of used clothing is the price that typical buyers of used items actually pay in used clothing stores for clothing of this age, condition, style, and use.
